House backup generator vibration

Hi All,

Part of my planning for a whole house backup generator is protecting my foundation from vibration.

When my foundation was poured the jerk used too much sulfur so it would dry quicker in cold weather. So my pipes under the house are all black and the outside of my foundation have some parts falling off.

But Other than the uglies, the foundation is solid.

The concern raised i nmy family is that a whole house generator would vibrate though its pad, through the ground to the foundation, and cause the foundation to crumble.

Is this even reasonable? And how do I protect from vibration? Will dirt even transmit that? The generator will be about 12" to 24" from the house.

Many thanks,

-T

It shouldn't be an issue. The engine has to be balanced anyhow. Think of a lawnmower. Anti vibration isolation mounts are cheap if it's any concern.

Agree. If it's vibrating bad enough to screw a house foundation, something is very, very wrong. Plus typically they are located at least a couple of feet away.

The image 249x120 pixel. I don't think you are serious about asking for help.

I was only showing some of the damage on the foundation. It was from an original picture showing the whole back of my house. That information was not relevant.

I an hour or so, I will take a better picture showig the foundation damage.

MW, no silicone vibration dampening suggestions? It may be a good idea.

Here are the two worst spots. The rest of the foundation, they are minor and superficial.

Sorry for the lighting. There was bright sunlight and the foundation was in the shadows and my camera did not adjust very well
