Gas in double pane windows

Looks like argon is a sakes buzz word. Look it up. Very little difference in heat transfer btw dry air and argon.

If i ever get condensation and is out of warrenty, im thinking of installing a tube stub at top and bottom corners as inlet and outlet ports and purging it out with bone dry compressed air. Not worth the extra cost of argon for the small difference. And no need to remove, replaced. Just be sure ti seal.

Any experienced with this?

Be sure you do this before the moisture etches the glass . And DON'T pull too much vacuum on the space , you'll crack one or both pieces of glass . When I tried this I used a tall container of silica beads and sucked the air thru the whole column . The air was plenty dry but the glass was etched by the moisture standing on it over time . I used a vacuum pump to suck the dry air into the cavity since I couldn't come up with a way to pump the dry air in under pressure . Now I'd use argon since I've got a tank on my TIG welder ...

Don't vacuum. Flush with dry nitrogen if you don't have argon.
