Do electric water heaters get less hot?

Do electric water heaters sometimes gradually have output that is less hot. It's still hot, but it used to be I had to add cold water to be able to take a bath in it. Now, I can manage to use just the hot water, no cold. if I do use even a little bit of cold, it seems hot enough at first but not for long.

Or maybe the diabetes I don't have is making my nerves less sensitive to hot water.

Could be one of the heating elements is gone and the other is not capable of getting up to temperature. Or the thermostat is off.

You talking about a heater that heats the water as you fill the bath or one which stores hot water in an insulated tank ?

That mostly affects the feet, not the body.

Electric water heaters have 2 elements, one top and one bottom, with separate thermostats. One element or one thermosta may have failed - or you may have sediment built up around the lower element. Sediment around the element generally ends up with the element failing.

None of mine have, just one at the bottom, but they have all been off peak water heaters.

I don't really think that's it, but I will check. Thanks all.

When I cut open one failed water heater, after 7 or 10 years there was only 3 or 4 tablespoons of sediment. I guess the water here is pretty watery.
