i have an isinkerator (badger 5 model) that just hums when the switch is turned on. the cutter disc rotates so it is not jammed. however, when i insert a probe and press down on the disc and rotate it the disposal works the next time i turn it on. problem is that after a proper use the same thing happens all over again. is there something under the blade disc that is jamming???

Open the rubber flaps, use a flashlight and an inspection mirror.
It is a starting switch problem, not a jam.
The Badger is not their best model by any stretch and you may be ahead of the game getting a new machine rather than repair.
