Damaged shower control valve threads

While repairing my Delta 600 series (1984) shower control valve, I used a Dremel to cut off its stuck trim ring. In doing this, I inadvertently ground a line across the valve thread. Can I still use the valve?

What exactly is cut? Sounds like it's just threads on the outside of the valve body that hold the trim on. In which case the only possible issue I see would be if water from the shower can now get through the cut to where it's not supposed to go. Could fill it with a thin line of silicone, let that set up before assembling it.

I agree. He's going to caulk the trim ring anyway, shouldn't make any difference.
