Colorful cement countertops

Hello,

Been reading up on concrete countertops. I may have a go at making some but would first like to experiment with some small pieces to see how I like it. I'm going to buy that Cheng book on making them too.

The question I had is that I've seen some that have some nice colorful glass and stone aggregate mixed in with the counter. I believe they sand it down to reveal the colors and it gives the cement nice coloring and patterns.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to get this sort of stuff and what materials might be good to utilize? I'm in Hawaii so often the places that sell on the mainland would charge too much for shipping. Was wondering if people had ideas for things that I could find in Hawaii.

I saw this website that had some aggregate that they sell:

I'm mainly looking for ideas and thoughts of things that people have used or think might work so I can experiment until I find some natural colors that I might want in a countertop.

Aloha!

You mean other than a'a and pahoehoe? :) How about colored glass from = broken bottles and the like.

You could also mix white/grey cement with coloring agents and make = pellets of whatever size you wish to include in the final matrix.
