They may help (a little).
And don't plan on occupying the house while the ozone machine is doing its job; the ozone is highly toxic in the concentrations needed for any remediation.

Ozone generators are not recomended by the EPA and American lung assn for residential use If they output more than 50 ppb. that is an 8 hr limit. Most Generators for commercial use easily exceed that, as do many residential units. Ozone is not your friend. Google Ozone generators and learn. The public is unaware, and sellers of units are just in the business for money. Even consumer reports goes into ozone on their Air Filter report.
And along with Jims post, don't be so stupid as one customer of mine who left their animals and fish in the home!!! Ozone will turn a fish tank into H2O2 (Hydrogen peroxide) if the concentrations are large enough.
An open window? (You did not say where it is coming from.)
Commonly used for this purpose in automobile "de-smoking" efforts but in conjunction with lots of cleaning as the other poster noted. Have you found somewhere to rent one for consumer use ?
