i know the steps to remove a sink but .my question is - is there any posibillity while i remove the plumbing and the garbage disposal to sink fail through the holl .(it is a cast iron sink)

If it is "self-r****ng" (sink lip sits on top of countertop) then it won't fall thru. BUT, if it's held in by clips underneath, it sure can fall.
Build up some 2 X 4 props underneath before you loosen anything.
