Well, it's the usual sensationalist reporting by the Daily Mail (you do need to take that paper with a fairly large helping of salt), but in essence, yes it is true. These two fungi appeared a few years ago (not clear if they're imports or two genuinely novel diseases, possibly as a result of mutation, but either way, they're nasty). The UK government has announced extra money to combat them

are reportable diseases (which means they should be reported to the Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries), but of course, most ordinary people probably wouldn't spot them.
