For garden areas try not to have too moist of conditions/excessive mulch. Rolled up newspaper is supposed to be an easy trap you can place around the garden areas along with water traps with a few drops of bacon grease. For them finding their way inside try to cut out the moist conditions and harborage spots next to the home along with making sure the weather stripping to the doors are tight.

Traps.

Place shallow aluminum pans half full of vegetable oil in your problem area just before dark. Next morning there will be dozens of drowned earwigs in the pan.
