Bug Juice

Jun 22, 2004 3 Replies

On TV, several years ago, I watched a gardening show where the host cooked up a batch of bug deterrent for his vegetable garden. I made some of it back then and it worked great...but now I can't remember the recipe.

I know it had tobacco juice, listerine, hot pepper juice, and some other stuff in it....

Anyone have a recipe like this they'd be willing to share with me?

I think you were probably watching Jerry Baker on PBS with his warlock recipes. He's frequently featured during fund raising specials. BTW, I'm surprised that the recipe didn't contain a sugar placebo. IMHO, there are very few people in this group who place much credence in his bug juice or other brews.

1  Cup Murphy's Oil Soap 1  Cup Tobacco Tea 1  Cup Listerine 4  oz . Tabasco

In a 20 gallon hose end sprayer.

His potions actually work for me.  Have used them for many years.

Caution is advised any time you use tobacco products around your tomatoes, though.
