Hi Kevin,
No, but the flowers are. Not to worry, trees can recover. Unless th bark has been eaten entirely around the trunk of the tree, your tre should live on.

Thanks Newt! That's good news... I must say the tree looks strange without the buds... not to mention the yews with no leaves :(
