Garden Math

I just put 5# of 12-0-0 blood meal out. I -think- that this means that I applied (5 pounds of blood meal) * (.12 percent Nitrogen) = .6 pounds of actual nitrogen.

Is this correct or am I doing the math wrong? My last chemistry lab was 34 years ago so I am a little rusty. :-)

You did the math right (5 * .12 = 0.6) but just for the sake of clarity the 12 in 12-0-0 is 12 percent, not .12 percent. 12 percent is 12/100 or 0.12. So, either (5lb blood meal) * (.12 N) = (0.6lb N) or (5lb blood meal) * (12% N) = (0.6lb N)
