Well it will work. Whether it is worth it depends on how much you spend and how much noise reduction you get for your money.
I was in a premises on Heathrow airport a while ago, and the windows had a double glazed unit, then a gap of about 6"-8", then another double glazed unit. The jumbos trundling past just outside the building produced nothing more than a faint hiss.
