i've just had a mortgage survey report done for a house im in the proccess of buying, besides the usuall nonsence that you get on there is a couple of things i think are quite worrying.
ridge tile pointing needs attention base course brickwork needs repair/replacing as nessecary
i got the impresion that base course ridgework was the mortar/cement arround the base of the house, you know the bit bellow the roughcast wall, or is this something more important ?
