How much watering down of emulsion on new plaster?

Jul 15, 2005 3 Replies

Just had a room skimmed a week ago. How long to wait before painting? And then how much to water-down the emulsion? I was thinking 50/50 paint & water... TIA Graham

For just a reskim, a few days after it looks dry should be OK.

It probably says on the tin. Normally 10-20% -- the higher figure if the plaster surface is shiny (which it shouldn't really be).

50% will be far too much water -- a little makes a lot of difference.

Don't put 50% water back on the wall, you've just waited 3 days for it to dry !!!
