My pilot light keeps making a thudding sound? when i went 2 investigate, it is doing it quite a bit but the flame is jumping when it makes the sound? like popping noise and flame flickers.

Possibly a partially blocked jet or air holes, causing wrong gas flow and/or incorrect mixture. How recently was the boiler cleaned and serviced?

over 6 months at least? its an old boiler anyway... but still going strong. i would attempt to un screw the pilot hole glass cover and clean myself? but not sure about the fittings.. there is four screws on a circular glass plate, i don't know if the screws just go through on a thread or if they have a nut on the back. if so how do i get the buggers back on when i have cleaned the thing thanks for the tip..
