about to pour a basement slab, but wanting to add radiant tubing to be connected at some future date? wondering what type of tubing to use. i have heard regular pex is not to be used in concrete and the aluminum coated pex is super expensive. whats the low down?

Pex for potable water should not be used. Pex with an oxygen barrier made specifically for radiant heat should be used.

the orange stuff. Can't remember what it's called right now. it's a bit thicker. Google 'radiant slab' for many many hits.
