Roomba

Hi all, I know that the roomba does not clean deeply like a vacuum cleaner, but I still think it'd be kind of cool just to have it pick up dust, cat hair, and maybe a bit of sand. Do you know if there is a more powerful type out now. Does anyone have one, and what will it pick up? Thanks alot, friends I might want one for Christmas, where could I get my best bargain, also

Hi Scullycat. I don't know but I thought I'd say hi. Is that an Irish name?

Sincerely, Choreboy

Hi Scully

My aunt now has two of them and she loves them both, has even given them pet names. My brother gave my mom one for her birthday.

They have this one problem in that they will not cross a raised threshold. Which is why my aunt now has two of them.

My mom calls hers the toddler. Because it finds every little thing and puts it into its mouth, hi hi.....

Based on how well my mom and aunt like theirs, I have bought one too, but it is in a box to put under the Christmas tree for Debi. By New Years we should know if it survives 4 dogs and over cluttered rooms, hi hi.....

Do you know if the Roomba also does hardwood floors?

The cheapest place I found for the one I bought was at Target, everyone else in town was at least 20 bucks higher. Plus I had a 10% off storewide coupon which brought the price down to $143.96 before taxes.

Hi LeAnn

That's what it excells at the most!

The Roomba is basically a surface sweeper, NOT a vacuum.

It has no trouble picking up small gravel that gets tracked into the kitchen from the driveway, it even picks up coins and lost earrings.

What my aunt likes BEST about hers is that it cleans up to and sometimes even under the baseboards if they are up off the floor.

If you do have carpeting, it will not eliminate the need to vacuum, but it will extend the periods of time between vacuumings because it catches the junk before it gets walked down into the carpet.

My aunt does have a small long haired dog, peekapoo I think. And her Roomba picks up the hair without messing anything up inside the machine.

But if the dog hides a loose doolie, better find it before the Roomba does, hi hi.....

I saw a couple of pallets of them at Home Depot recently. They had the basic package (Roomba, charger, and one virtual wall) and a deluxe package that included the Roomba, charger, wall mount, remote control, and a couple of virtual walls. I think the deluxe package was about $145.00.
