what are the red and green lights on a smoke detector

Red is for when the alarm is actively sounding and detecting smoke and/or extremely high temperatures, it should not be lit otherwise. - Green is for everything's working fine with the detector, these can be a steady or blinking green. - Some units have the green change to yellow or orange if a problem with the detector is registered, dusty, low battery or actual malfunction.
