Got a phone call this afternon saying "Get to the airport now". I just got to see it land.

Bloody noisy things forever coming over the house at low level defeating all attempts at conversation or listening to radio or TV!

That's what my dear old Mum had to say about them when they were in service. I remember quite well having to stop all conversation and wait until it had passed over, plus the smell!

None of us will forget the Vulcan effect but we'll all need a new hobby! Having seen the youtube video last night I think I'd have been disappointed yesterday having seen both days at Waddington last year, Woodford at the end of June for the first northern tour and the Blackpool air show in August. Not that anyone was welcome yesterday!

Post-Shoreham, realistically we are only ever going to have seaside shows. Plenty more noisy planes, some even with delta wings such as the Viggen and Drakken, but not taking off and setting off car alarns with their afterburners on.

Don't know which video you've seen, but this is nicely cut down to the flight. Turn up the volume for take-off, go-around and touch-and-go!

I am sure there are plenty more damned fools ready to follow Thatcher and Blair and drag us into the sort of air raid where we manage to us a GP bomb at tremendous expense to do minimal damage to the end of a runway occupied by sheep and South Americans.

What other use was the Vulcan besides as air shows for people with poor judgement??

You should have watched earlier, when it was free.

Though given all the displays and tours it has done over the years, especially this year when they knew it was the last, a quick take-off and two circuits of an airport where they couldn't invite anyone, even had to keep it secret to prevent most people seeing it, did seem a bit pointless.

Maybe the Robert Pleming heart operation story was a cover to smuggle him into the cockpit for as a passenger on the last flight :-P
