Is there a knack to laying the stuff? I have about three rows all nicely butted up but the next row doesn't seem to want to go in - almost as if the previous rows are not straight - Grrr!

i know what you mean!

I had similar issues with a click system floor recently - knack that emerged was :-

join all bits together to form the full "strip" for the width of the room then:-

get one end started, leave 5degrees still "up", hold in place with slippered right foot, shuffle arse along, put next section in to similar angle, at which point first section can be lowered to final (flat) angle whilst pushing/holding 5 degree section with slippered foot, insert next section etc etc etc.

Tap gently with a decent sized 12" offcut (with correct tongue to groove etc) to finally tighten..

I needed to do that on every row after I'd done one....PITA but got easier ! :>)))

Thats probably it. You have to get the first row spot bollock, otherwise subsequent rows will get worse.

Take the time & use those plastic wedges to get the first row absolutely straight. An offcut & a mallet will help with subsequent rows.

If this is clicky laminate rather than glued T&G, it can get easier after the 3rd row. 3 rows tends to find its own straightness if all the joints are tight (theory taken from Kahrs clicky wood instructions). At that point, it is a good time to double check everything and check the wedges.
