Security battery powered wifi web cams?

The farm manager of te farm around us informed us today that certain persons have been driving all over the land around removing stuff. We won't say its connected to the EU grant that has bee translated into a free million quid gift to house travellers nearby.

Anyway, this is happening n broad daylight, with stolen vehicles with false plates, and the police couldn't give a damn. So nothing new there. To busy catching speeding motorists. In their own taxed, insured and street legal vehicles.

The question is what to do?

One possible part might be to set up low light cameras to at least have SOME evidence.

However these would need to be self powered and radio connected.

So that's one question..what exists at reasonable cost that you can stick up a tree or similar, that will record hats going on at a couple of hundred meters range? Or some that might work a over a bit of wire, dotted round the house?

Any other thoughts about methods of discouraging the post modern 'hunter gatherers', legal and illegal, as long as we get away with it, welcomed.

Is it illegal to possess something that looks like a pump action shotgun, but doesn't actually work?

If they are possible I'd recommend sensor lights dotted around everywhere. Then almost any CCTV camera will show what's happening. And people tend to go away when the lights come on. The video signal seems to go at least 40 metres overa wire as long as you make sure the DC power supply is smooth, e.g. by using a capacitor.

sure if you can set it to just take a photo every few seconds though or whether it only works with IR triggering (about 40ft range).

Takes a lot of bottle to get heavy with a camp of travellers. It may be they are hoping you will pressurise the District Council to vote more funds.

Persuade your farming neighbours to block the gateways giving access to their fields. I use tree trunks or big lumps of concrete.

The concrete is chosen such that a tractor will clear but not a conventional 4WD.

Probably. SSG shot (9 pellets) in a side by side 12 bore is legal up to the point when you wave it at someone.

To see enough detail to be useful at a couple of hundred meters you are going to need a lens with a field of view not much over 10 degrees, possibly less. This will very much restrict the view to that small area.

Don't leave "desirable" stuff lying about. Security lights but they don't need to be 500W jobbies, PIR controlled and enough light to see or from the teal leaves point of view be see by is enough. High light levels are counter productive as you can only see in the bright pool of light not outside of it.

Probably not but the Police assume anything that looks like a firearm is a firearm and ask questions latter. You frighten tea leave with your imitation weapon, he reports "mad gun man" to Police next thing is the Armed Response unit decending upon you...
