I met yet another reversing idiot today. I'm walking along the pavement, and a car drives past me and stops, then reverses into his drive and would have run me over had I not stopped. So I walked in front of his car and shook my fist at him. He leaned out the window and said "Don't you f****ng shake your fist at me!", so I said "Drive in forwards like a sensible person instead of reversing into people." WTF is it with these morons? Have they read something in the highway code and mistaken it for the law?
The Highway Code applies to England, Scotland and Wales. The Highway Code is essential reading for everyone.
The most vulnerable road users are pedestrians, particularly children, older or disabled people, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders. It is important that all road users are aware of the Code and are considerate towards each other. This applies to pedestrians as much as to drivers and riders.
Wording of the Highway Code:
Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence. You may be fined, given penalty points on your licence or be disqualified from driving. In the most serious cases you may be sent to prison. Such rules are identified by the use of the words ?MUST/MUST NOT?. In addition, the rule includes an abbreviated reference to the legislation which creates the offence. See an explanation of the abbreviations.
Although failure to comply with the other rules of the Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under the Traffic Acts (see The road user and the law) to establish liability. This includes rules which use advisory wording such as ?should/should not? or ?do/do not?.
As stated above, many of the rules are legal requirements and if you disobey those you are committing a criminal offence. Although failure to comply with the other rules of the Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under the Traffic Acts to establish liability. I suggest therefore that if you can safely reverse into your driveway that is the correct action to take. Reversing out, should it be deemed to haver caused an accident, might result in prosecution.
The best way to insulate your home is with a big pile of fridge-foam aer= osol cans: Just fill the entire house with foam and tunnel to the bits you need to = get to, pack rat style.
All roads should have pavements. My stupid council continues to approve dangerous housing estates with single lane access roads and no pavements. Cars coming both ways directly towards each other with kids running around in the middle. Brilliant!
