Funny that, seeing that most of what you snipped were your own words - oh well if you say you are an 'imbecile' who are we to argue !...

So what costume is a tatty t-shirt (free with corporate promo) over 5 years old split underpants, and a pair of tatty jeans covered in paint and cement then Mary?

and a pair of socks that don't seem to be quite the same colour...

Ah Nouveau Pauvre.

Actually, I got just such a report done here, by a firm that specialises in heat loss stuff.

They wer able to prove that with single galazed leaded lights I woud still meet energy loss quality factors, with reasonable U values everywhere else.

And they have been proved to be right. My 10KW boiler is able to heat the house and the water on the coldest day...

Iverealized that IMM talks like the Sun. Or teh Mirror. Or New of te World.

I suspect apart from glossy bochures, that's all he can read.

But what if I make my improvement and they want more? The main improvements that could be made (as the likely house improvement in question is a loft conversion that will involve roof replacement to modern specs) are wall insulation, floor insulation and double glazing. All would be fairly disruptive.

This one...and I don't want or need a silly house with geass roof. Ridiculous in this day and age.

Blame the syle police...the planners. I would burn the lot of them.

More to the point, I doubt whether any of these would show a 7 year payback period so you could not be required to do them

It's very easy to be selective and only quote the things where you disagree with him. Are you also against what he has to say on rising damp, dry rot and myriad other subjects?

If you read more carefully you'll see that he's opposed to things such as double glazing being forced onto people in innapropriate ways. Are you willing to bet against him on the longevity of the vast majority of double glazing "systems" being installed today?

It is also worth noticing that much of his building experiance seems to be based in and around parts of London (Bethnal Green IIRC), where a good deal of the housing stock tends to be older Victorian properties. In many cases these will be the ones that are most likely to suffer from inappropriate "modernisation" with things like DG. Much of the stuff that I have read of his regarding loft inuslation, seemed to be targeted at things like negative effects of spray on foam treatments under tiles, and use of sarking without adequate soffit/eve ventilation.

It explains his preference for 22mm polypipe. Get better head with 22mm apparently.
