kitchen first fix - couple more questions

Right, a couple more kitchen first fix questions:

  1. Is it normal to surface wire in the service void behind the units ? This would not need to be in a safe zone (although in might be advisable) ?

  1. Any problem with the surface wiring suddenly disappearing into the wall at various points ? (obviously these need to be a safe zone). Can the wiring plunge into the wall or should it transfer from surface to embedded using a "box" ?

  2. Plumbing in the service void - What height would hot and cold pipes typically be set ? I have in my mind about knee high to give suitable working space above.

Cheers, Simon.

Yes surface is fine

nope, just chisel a bit of plaster away where the units are to be fixed back to the wall and put the cables in - they don't need to be plastered over

about knee height is right, maybe a few inches higher to take into account the kickboard heights

And probably safer IMHO.

Yes if you are referring to surface mounted cables running behind the units that are used to feed the sockets above the units. But see below if you do have the type of units that fit flush to the wall all the way down to the floor and want to pass between two units.
