Crumbling PVC waste pipes.

My dad did the plumbing in his house which he moved into about 25 years ago. In ignorance, he used white PVC waste pipe and fittings outside, which are crumbling due to UV exposure.

I've replaced some of it where necessary, but wonder if there's something I can paint on the remaining stuff to extend its life by a couple of years. I expect that would be plenty long enough.

Cheers

I'd guess any paint that will stick, will do

I've had similar problems with grey PVC.

Interesting. I've got quite a bit of grey stuff at the rear of the house - south facing. It looks to be OK, though. Black PVC guttering goes brittle pretty quickly, though.

Grey uPVC pipe made to BS3505 should not have its physical properties affected by sunlight, but can suffer surface discolouration after long exposure.

Mine broke up on the sealing rings, I guess from UV exposure. It is south facing and in an alcove position which gets hot in summer.
