Bought a set of these last Thursday, they look quite good.
Tried one today - the shank is too large to fit the chuck on my drill driver - Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

So where's the important advice ie do they cut through wood are are they best suited for polystyrene?
Did you also buy the drill driver from Aldi or were you expecting it to be compatible?
Owain
Doh! - the shank is too large to fit the chuck on my drill driver!
Nope. The drill driver is a Wickes/Kress jobby with a Jacobs chuck. They may fit my mains Hi Torque or my SDS - haven't tried yet.
I see, so is that the only drill you have then?
I have three drills.
I have 6. Ner ner ne ner ner!
Well they should fit at least one? I try them out sooner rather than later, as the last lot I bought from aldi wasn't worth a blow on a ragmans trumpet. Metal turned blue and that was just plain pine wood I tried.
Bloody part timers. 5 mains, 6 cordless and three 'dremel' types.
Bloody amateurs...3 DeWalts will suffice.
Only Three!!
Only 6!! 6 cordless drills drivers, 2 cordless SDS, 3 corded SDS, 1 SDS max,
1 electric breaker and 1 petrol breaker!! Ner ner ne ner ner.
Bloody amateurs, 2 dewalts, 1 makita, 1 atlas copco (petrol), and the rest hilti, case rests
They probably worked out if they made em with a 16mm shank, they would probably never get used, and folks would not be so quick working out they are made of plastercine!
I manage with one. It's the mains SDS. The other mains ones are all B&D. Including the very first one I bought in the '60s. Which is a bit like the proverbial broom - only the case is original.
I'd only reiterate the HS twist drill set I bought from Lidl recently is as good quality as any I have. And most of that sort of thing they sell has the same brand name. I suppose that doesn't mean it's all to the same quality, though.
I don't run a hire shop, I do DIY myself.
Yup, quality of cheap bits does vary hugely. I have a set that cost pennies years ago, that still works very well. (I have also had some that untwist with the first use!)
