Wood Stain - Possibilities

I'm looking for idea on what Possible on my 1943 oak wood floors ? Any web pages that will give you an idea of can be done. I just strip the carpet from the master bedroom (original carpet). awesome staining job. The floor was stain a dark color with light color streaks every so often. Sort of reminds you of some the more modern wood floors of today.

Look into ammonia fuming' it darkens the wood when reacting with the tannins it contains.

I have had success using the ammonia that is used in the old blueprint machines, diazo? In shallow pans over a heat source with the room sealed off.
