It's not surprising, because the operating principles of american news outlets is to report as little bad or demoralizing news as possible. Because americans are children, and children are turned off by bad news, and bad news doesn't help to sell advertising.

So-called "bad" news is reported all the time, as long as it fits in with the message that the publisher wants to deliver. These days, news is usually tailored to promote the Democrats' platform.
