Nobody was listening.

He has done a good job of convincing me of something.

Not what he had in mind convincing me of.

But he is real convincing.

And regards parking tickets as being a higher priority than either looters or people in danger of dying.

You are posting from either misc rural or alt home repairs and yet think that locking stuff up is going to keep it out of the reach of someone determined to steal it, and has no reason to worry about time or noise?

Nope. The NRA members are usually a bunch of pussy target shooters.

Swing by the Sheehan protest and see if you can get David Duke to give you a hand. Or, maybe Senator Byrd can get some of his KKK buddies to join up.

You get your world view from two fantasy sources? Why does this not surprise me?

Per Don Bruder:

I don't have much problem with looters being shot on sight.

But it has to be done by the book - by people who are trained, accountable, sane, and sober. Even then, the bottom line is that you've given the power of life and death to a bunch of 19-20 year old kids.

I'd think that serious problems would arise when you give too many guns and too much authority to too many untrained/unaccountable people.

I can easily visualize a bunch of people with a vigilante mentality deputized to become as much of a problem as looters.

For an example, I'd go back to Fort Lauderdale way back in the sixties in the spring following the release of the film "Where The Boys Are".

As we drove northwards from Florida, the newspaper accounts of the "riots" in that town seemed to get more and more lurid. I was there - for three days - and all I could see of note were thousands of college-age kids milling around because they were banned from the beach after sunset and gangs of local rednecks (deputized, I'd guess) running down and beating up unarmed, totally inoffensive kids - myself included.

You didn't have to be doing anything wrong - just walking down the street. Somebody'd yell something unintelligible at you, you'd say "huh?", and five guys would have you on the ground.

If those guys had guns I can imagine how it might have gone...

Ok, so let the police go write parking tickets while people drown. They should get those j walkers too.

Well, jeez, since when was it ok to kill people because they aren't good. There's a lot of people out there that aren't good but we don't just go out and shoot them. If we did then our jails would be rpetty empty.

1) How are they interfering with rescue efforts? 2) Can we shoot those people stealing bread and bottled water too?

Innocent people are the ones trapped in floodwaters, drowning or otherwise in peril in other parts of the city, while your cops are busy arresting looters. You tell me the logic there.

At risk of repeating myself: Bullets and body-bags are cheap...

Yup, the conservative logic of chosing to punish looters while the innocent drown. No wonder it took 5 days for help to arrive from the Feds.

You're a broken record.

So, go on your shooting spree right now. I'll see if you are in the news. Make sure you put a bullet in your head too while you are at it.

No, it was never true. It is just a case of one of those lies, endlessly repeated, becoming indistinguishable(in many peoples' minds, from the truth.

Ignore religion. What does reality teach you about the value of human life? Apparently human life has no "special" value. If you take a human and throw them in front of a bus, they will get squashed just as easily as a dog would. I find it amusing how many humans seem to think that we have some sort of "special" status, that OUR lives are protected or something, when there's no evidence to support such a notion. We are just as fragile as all the other mammals, maybe even more fragile than some.

I don't recall hearing of looters causing violence. I think their priority was getting the loot home.

Reply to

So? If you're not a looter, or presenting the impression that you are one thorugh your actions, then you don't need to worry about being shot at by anyone, regardless of their age, do you?

The law of the land should be quite clear and easy to understand: You loot, we shoot.

How hard is that to grasp?

Aren't those things supposed to be locked up?

Yessiree Sherrif. But what if the so called looter was taking his stuff he owned to a place that was drier? You shoot and you've killed an innocent.
