I would suggest that you ensure that your facts are correct before you post information such as this in a public newsgroup or even moneysavingexpert as this could be considered libel if not true - especially if you think that you are posting anonymously.

This information is enough to reveal your identity, thus leaving you open to legal proceedings.
You have raised a couple of important issues here:
1) How can you glean personal information from this (anonymous) post?
2) Google keep an activity profile of all posters including what groups they subscribe to and what messages they look at and post. If this person is local to Wisbech it's odd that they spell it incorrectly.
Regarding the complaint They may be perfectly legitimate, but if you are employing someone to do a job I have learned that it's best to look closely at what they are doing and not let the job carry on if you are in doubt about the standard of work. If however you get past this stage and they are demanding payment for shoddy work then don't pay up if you dispute the bill. Either negotiate a settlement or tell them that you will refer the matter to Trading Standards. Always use tradesmen recommended by someone who has used them and is happy with the work, look at what they have done as well.
I've been following this post and I agree with what DSP says - and you should still be careful that you have your facts correct when you make a post like that - avoid posting in anger.
Not really the "end of story" but just the opening round in what may be a long and frustrating battle!
What percentage of the amount did you actually pay and have you had another tiler/builder in to confirm the state and quality of the workmanship/materials - and to give to a *quote* [1] to rectify the defective works? Essential if you wish to pursue that matter through the courts.
There may be very good reasons as to why he hasn't responded (other than trying to avoid you) - how long have you been trying to contact the firm?
Pop over to - uk.legal.moderated - and ask there how you go about taking the small claims route to get your cash back - and the hoops you'll have to jump through to make sure your case will succeed.
If the firm/bloke is clever or crafty enough (or just has good lawyers), he could still use your post to literally take you for another rather rough, financial ride for libel, especially after making your post in Money Saving Expert - even though he may have done a poor job.
