Louver shutters - Workbench magazine #241 May 97

Nov 18, 2003 1 Replies

Hi all, I'm looking for guidance on making louver shutters and have found a reference to Workbench magazine #241 of May/June 1997. I believe a copy is available from the publisher but am wondering if it will be of any use to me.

Has anyone got a copy and can let me know how useful it might be; beginner/intermediate/expert etc.

Also, if anyone has any other reference sources for building louver shutters, I would be most grateful.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Best regards

Andy,

Shutters may not be for the beginner, but a very do-able project for the average woodworker. I built plantation shutters for my home several years ago and read the article you refer to, though I chose my own plans and methods of construction. I would get the article, it's going to steer you into the right direction. I am sorry I no longer have my drawings or notes. An internet search will give you a raft of information.

Two things come to mind;

  1. Pins which are available again search internet.
  2. I used T-25 staples to form the link mechanism between the opening bar and individual louvers.
