Wooden front door damage

Over time my front door has suffered from bashing from the wifes bicycle and an hairy family argument with her brother who kicked lumps out of the door *gulp* family huh gotta love em lol.

Question is its a wooden the backside of its in good condition, the fron and lock side needs replacing. Can the front and side of a door be replaced or is a a total replament needed ?

Bit late to call the local carpenter, thought the diy bods might know. :)

Depends on what the "door" is...

- Core with plywood nailed each side - replace plywood

- Engineered wood, dowel & glued - hard to get apart

Is this just dinges & scrapes?

- In which case sand down, filler, repaint.

Beware "hardwood doors" - some are a veneer on core, and that veneer can be quite thin before you get aggressive with a sander.

Send him/it/**it a bill for a replacement door.
