wireless CH/DHW programmer recomendations

Hi,

I currently have a Siemans 2 channel programmer (1 CH 1 DHW).

Unfortunately the developer who put it in was too tight to stretch to a room thermostat anywhere!

I want to either replace the whole thing with a wireless thermo/programmer which will also do the DHW (or failing that add one into the system)

any recomendations welcome!

Unless you need anything fancy for HW, I would just use a simple wired tank stat for that. You probably have a wiring centre in the airing cupboard, so it would be easy to connect it. You may already have a tank stat, anyway. Assuming that your Siemens programmer has a built-in timer, set *that* for when you want your HW heated. Set CH to constant, and use a programmable stat - wireless if you like - to control when the CH comes on, and how hot the house is to be at various times of the day. If you have TRVs on all the radiators, you'll need to disable the one in the room where your new room stat is to be located. The simplest way is to remove the thermostatic head from the valve.

As for what model of stat, everyone has their favourite - but I've been quite happy with my Honeywell CM67 (non-wireless) programmable stat. There is, of course, a wireless equivalent - which allows you to put the switching contacts somewhere convenient such as in the airing cupboard, and locate the sensor module in the room of your choice.

Exactly how you wire this in will depend on what config of system you have. I suspect it will be either a Y-Plan (with a single 3-port valve) or an S-Plan (with two 2-port valves). See
