How does this work against Carthaginian ants? (It's a ha-ha-but-serious joke ; the Romans ploughed salt into the burned fields of the Carthaginians 2200 years ago, and apparently the fields are still to salty to produce a worthwhile crop. And you're promoting people to do this in their gardens?)
