South West Water also have the Tamar lakes. Until the upper one was constructed the lower lake which had been built to supply water to the Bude Canal still supplied to the Bude area via the former navigable feeder arm of the Bude Canal, as such it it gave a good indication of what this small Tub boat canal actually looked like long after navigation had ceased. That came to an end when the new upper lake was created in the 1970's and the water was piped away and the old canal arm became dry. It used to look like this
