Undertile Heating advice please

Oct 29, 2004 1 Replies

Hi all

I hope to lay electic undertile heating to a sound, dry concrete floor that has a 10mm hard bitumen (asphalt) covering, which is in good condition and is level. This will not be the sole heat source, but merely for comfort. Will the bitumen melt?! I don't want the extra thickness of an additional insulation layer such as 10mm Mortex. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks Noah

Noah, Bitumen is funny stuff and may well have long term slow effect on the insulation of the UFH. I would ask this question of the manufacturer of the system you plan to use.

regards

Bob
