More 'art student' thinking. A bicycle wheel is not doing 100,000 RPM.

But anyone who as spun a bike wheel and gripped it by its axle can feel how much precession is there.

We lean bikes over, so its lost in other factors..but its there.

One way to deal with it is to have a pair of flywheels, contra-rotating. Adds cost and complication, and needs clever bearing design.

I believe there was a significant gyro effect in taking off single engined WW2 fighters. In twin engined airliners, do they have left and right handed spools?

There's nothing especially novel about gyroscopic-powered machines. The Sentinel Waggon Works in Shrewsbury produced a few prototype shunting engines in the 1950's, and I remember them or similar being featured in The Eagle comic from about that time. See

The trouble with computer programmers, is that Bool didn't put anything between 0 and 1.

100,000 rpm is 10 times the rotational rate of a jet engine in flight. A jet engine is rather better made than a consumer-grade lawn-mower, yet there are still occasional failures. AISB, I wouldn't like that to happen anywhere near me and neither, I suspect, would any average lawn-mower purchaser. 100,000 rpm means that the edge of a 12" disk is doing almost 3500mph, and experiencing around 1,000,000G (still nothing compared to the surface of a neutron star, apparently, but still). Can a steel disk withstand that?
