Trousers for DIY and gardening

I wear Scruffs from Toolstation and snip off any external pockets.

I use working trousers from Screwfix complete with knee pads.

I used to have terrible knee problems after kneeling down for any length of time. Padded knees have worked well so far.

I think most trousers aimed at the building trade have a generous fit.

It is getting hard to find work trousers without those holster pockets. My choice of workies are Dickies Everyday trousers because I do like cargo pockets.

I have Snickers ones, generally hardwearing but both knees have ripped now.

The kneepads don't align with my knees very well, have to hitch them up every time I kneel down, or they're mid-way down my shins

Me too. I've worn them out, mostly in the garden. I think I need to buy another pair soon.

Oddly I'm not fat (a little over 12st and 6ft) and they fit me fine.

For messy and gardening work trousers I now do a tour of charity shops and can usually find something that fits , they may have been a pair of smart trousers to someone but for £4 to £6. a pair I can afford to wreck them and move onto another pair when they finally go beyond the pale. Pick the right town where much of the population is comprised of affluent oldies you often find new items that weren’t worn before they died or went into care and are unworn but cleared by relatives who have limited time to deal with things and just give away a wardrobe collection.

Hadn' thought of that - thanks. Also, thanks for the other suggestion - I'll have a look at them. I don't want knee pads as I have a pair plus a comfortable kneeling pad.

I'd have to check that it's OK to buy them, try them on at home (not doing that in TS!) and can get a refund.

Strap-on (velcro) kneepads, worn over trousers work fairly well. The Lord decided just where your knees should be, and trouser manufacturers often get it wrong (in my experience at least).

But do note that prices in charity shops in that: "town where much of the population is comprised of affluent oldies" are always much higher than in places where the lumpen proletariat live.

Yes, I do have a pair of "nailers" hard kneepads that pred-date my kneepad trousers.

I'm tall, but not especially in the legs.
