Too many volts are making some kit shut down and plug-in solar

The men from eFixx have recently uploaded an interesting YouTube Video about the problems with upper voltage spikes caused by all those solar panels, wind turbines? and other stuff making EV chargers and inverters shut down when the voltage exceeds

253v.

The industry solution - harmonise with Europe and reduce the lower voltage limit to apparently reduce average voltage by a few volts.

That would make my 1992-vintage Woolworths 60w bulb in my bathroom last even longer :-).

Also, BBC "Sliced Bread" did a program on plug-in solar after a listener asked if they were just BS, or actual (S)liced (B)read

Their conclusion - probably OK with caveats (need to have an external socket, and very likely a change of RCD to bi-directional so also need an electrical inspection).

Can't wait for Storm 'WhatEverName' to result in plug-in solar panels landing on the railways and making headline news.
