Terracotta heaters?

What is the panel's opinion on home-made terracotta heaters? Has anybody ever tried building one?

I am thinking about the ones built with two opposite terracotta vases and candles in the middle.

Waste of time.

Has anybody

Can't produce enough heat to matter.

You would be a lot better off with what is called a heated throw which is basically an electric blanket that you use on an armchair or sofa etc.

You can't produce any more heat from them than the candles do on their own. And the candle flame heats the air, so why bother with the terracotta pots? Just burn a couple of candles - and freeze!

With the cost of candles possibly the most expensive way of heating.

At least with naked candles you get a little bit of light, so you can watch the icicle growing on the tip of your partner's nose!

If you can see your partner's nose you need to huddle closer.

Mmm...wonder if there's a market for "The Joy of Huddling" with illustrations of positions

A candle plus plant pots is just a candle. You're not going to heat much with that. It might get you a cup of tea eventually.

I get the impression that people building these mini candle power storage heaters believe that they can provide enough to heat a room because the terracotta gets too hot to touch in the same way as a wood burning stove consuming the equivalent of 3 kW/h of fuel is also too hot to touch.
