Surform-type abrasive - available ?

In days gone by you could buy a Surform attachment to fit on an electric drill. Does anyone know of a similar (or same) device available today ?

The Arbotech (used primarily by wood-sculpturers I think) is expensive and too rough. A "Surform"-type attachment for the dreaded angle-grinder would also be OK. Rob BTW While researching for this I discovered that Surform was a British company/invention, rapidly snapped up by Stanley. Just nice to know.

I never found them all that effective. Abrasive flap wheels for the drill? You can get a sort of angle grinder "disk" with abrasive flaps as well.

I find a coarse abrasive disk on a 115 mm angle grinder will cope with a lot of jobs.

I guess a problem with Surform was that due to the speed it may have been rubbing more than cutting.

I haven't tried them (apart from the kitchen hand-held versions), but there are these:

Microplane, Axminster sell them.

Look after them as they're fragile, but they cut beautifully.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think that microplane discs on an ROS is the way to go. Greetings to d-i-y'ers, Rob
