sticking down wallpaper

Is there anything better or quicker than ordinary wall paper paste to stick some peeling wallpaper down prior to a quick makeover with magnolia emulsion?

As a quick fix some years ago, I used a glue-stick, and painted over immediately. It worked perfectly, and hasn't come loose yet.

Seconded... you can buy small tubes of special wallpaper glue intended for this purpose, but all it is is PVA.

magnolia emulsion - it works a treat - simply paint the wall behind *and* the back of the paper, leave for 5 minutes and then stick it back, the paint seems to have /some/ adhesive qualities, and it also reconstitutes the existing dried up paste.
