I am not normally a Sun reader but this caught my eye when scanning the front pages. According to the Sun the police say it is legal!!! I hope the guy is going to market it, I will have one.

"CURRENT affairs reporter Ivor Watt put the van to the test."

You can tell that it's August, slow news month.

The "Danger Live Terminals" notice doesn't comply with BS ISO EN 7010: 2011

i am not sure why you capitalised "current" and not the reporter's name.

Perhaps he is part of a RESISTANCE to such things :-)

If I get a shock walking past someone's van or car they won't have a van left.

As an electrician I bet he can be done under elf and safety laws.

Some people are far more sensitive to shocks than others and it could damage things like phones, pacemakers, etc. if they accidentally contact the handle.

Just wait for the court cases claiming damages.

It's how they printed it in the Sun online actually.

If you got the shock because you tried to open the door, uninvited, then why would you complain ?.

Static will give you just as much a belt.

But WATT are you missing.

The hell it will, well not without some laden jars.

I have taken a fly swatter and modified it to apply static grass and they operate at about 10kV not 1000V. There could be a bit of capacitance in the wiring to boost the current available too.

In normal UK humidity 10kV could jump qite a big gap so you wouldn't have to try and open the door to get a shock, just walk a bit close to it.

So now explain how he protects the innocent from his weapon?

You just get a fly swat and somehow insulate the door handles. Brian

AMPle evidence, and how comes the following capital N isn't questioned .

"AN electrician has wired his van so would-be tool thieves get a 1,000- volt shock if they try to break in."

The trouble he could be in is if he needs the emergency services and they need to break in, using a break out box perhaps I have some here :-)

WATT is everyone missing.

Can anyone find out who the current affiars reporter for the sun is. The only ivor watt I found was a rugby player who died in 2006.

dennis@home explained on 01/08/2019 :

It says it only triggers when the handle is pulled, what innocent person might be pulling the door handle?

An elderly person that might need support?

Reply to

Fuck, you're pathetic. I have never seen an elderly person grabbing a door handle on a vehicle, not belonging to them, for support.
