Source of 1200x350mm beech face wood

I used beech veneered block board and used oversize beech strip (tree-wood rather than laminate!) to make the edges, mitred at the corners. I glued the edges on and nailed them (but left the nails protruding) until set. I then removed the nails, filled the nail holes, carefully planed the edges down flush and then sanded the lot down and varnished.

Blockboard bends a lot less than contiboard. It is what you might call expensive though.

For shelves.

Haven't found anywhere to date :(

Don't mind if it's contiboard mock effect stuff - but would like it to look half decent and not have horribly chipped edges witha naff iron on edge if at all possible.

Any suggestions anyone?

Cheers, Dan.

How does the price compare with the real thing? I should imagine that the price for a few shelves would be quite affordable.

Find the local timber yards in the area and see what they will do for you. Ther eis a thread here giving the addresses of some. Tell us on it what is in your area. It's always handy to have that thread updated.

Cambridge is the area - don't reckon there are many round here worth their salt tbh - it's mostly builders merchants - which as we have done to death - are *not* the same thing.

Cheers Dan.
