Seeking information on Micropoint cooker hoses and connections

Hi

I have just had a Micropoint socket installed. This message is to follow-up a query arising from a previous message ('Has the Corgi chap done this properly').

Can anyone direct me to a website, or answer some queries, on Micropoint cooker hoses and connections? Searches bring up lots of for-sale stuff, but no real facts.

- Are Micropoint sockets and hoses intended to replace the 'conventional'

1/2" bayonet elbows and matching hoses?

- Is the flow-rate through Micropoint systems less than conventional ones? If so is this a problem?

- What advantages has Micropoint (i.e. why would you use Micropoint rather than a conventional approach)?

- Are there any special considerations needed when using Micropoint?

Many thanks

Steve

the only stpulation i am aware of is that the socket is secured to wall and the hose when conected hangs in a u shape so as to avoid damage to hose at joints to the brass part. you could always gas rate the appliance and see if there is a difference to the manufacturers instructions. and if there is a difference then you would need it checking out.

we fit micropoint all the time and have not had any problems. i am sure the flow of gas is ample for cookers. although the flow can be restricted by other factors in the pipework.

Can it be used with LPG?

6 mm inlets. For Natural Gas, and also LPG up to a pressure of 50 mbar."

i think you can get versions for lpg but as it is under more pressure and is a more searching gas i would check this out. i have very little knowledge of lpg and the bit of knowledge i have does not include using a micropiont cooker connection.
