I'm sorry, but I now consider Peter Parry's views on the Saniflo to be amasterpiece of understatement.He omitted to mention that getting the "easy clip on top" off a Saniflois a labour to be compared only with Hercules' cleaning of the Augeanstables. I can't for the life of me recall which aspect of moving aSaniflo from the downstairs cloakroom to a third floor bedroom was themost tear inducing. I have had to manhandle the putrid, stinking objectout of the cloakroom and into the garden where I managed to decant thecontents directly into the septic tank, well sort of, becuase theconcertina rubber flange grabs on to any passing poo as if it wereatrue anal retentive. Then I read the booklet which promised that thelid would simply clip off. Two hours later my wife appeared to find aman rolling around the garden with a Saniflo clenched between his kneesbattering at the lid shouting "bastard" at intervals. All fingernailsbroken, shit and paper paté sticking to the most likely and unlikelyplaces. Eventually it came free and the entire inside was then cleaneduntil it shone.Then came putting the lid back on. This is jjust like removing it onlyharder. I ended up pogoing up and down on the Saniflo weeping withfrustration, too tired to do anything else. It's almost impossible topush the lid down firmly enough to latch because the cheap plastic bodyflexes whenever one attempts to push the clips into place.Then refitting it. Which genius decided to put the inlet for the basinin exactly the same location as the overflow from a close-couplecistern? And where the hell does anyone get 22mm to 32mm adaptors toallow the 22mm outlet of the Saniflow to be connected to a standard soilstack?I despair.After much searching I eventually found the old 22 to 32 adaptor thatthe builder who did the work on the cloakroom had removed, and throwninto a nettle patch behind the garden wall. Thank heaven that (a) he waslazy and (b) my neighbour had spotted him throwing stuff over the wall.Saniflo...

See my other replies further up the thread; bear in mind that you get what you pay for.

Multiquik, the pan connector people, have recently launched one but I don't know how good it is; not used one yet. It's called the Turboflush. (Not, as I first thought when I saw the leaflet, the Turdoflush!)

Just remembered I saw a unit in a commercial kitchen which was basically a plastic box containing an ABS Robusta submersible pump. It would be perfectly possible to make something similar, I would suggest using a plastic cold water cistern. Main problem is making sure that the sub. pump's float switch is free to move; the Robusta has an integral level switch rather than a float on a cable, other makes are available in this format. Some sort of high level alarm might be advisable unless you can seal the tank, in which case it needs vented above the basin level to allow it to fill.

The one that fits our needs best is actually the SaniShower I think, just a pump with no 'macerator'. If you hunt around the price can be down to £175, it still seems a lot of money for a simple pump though.

Methinks the FAQ weekly reminder needs another short para adding.

The index of "trouser-wettingly funny mental images" in my head has now been augmented, such that along with Basil Fawlty doing serious damage to the bonnet of an innocent Austin Allegro with a small uprooted tree and a couple of others, there's the vision of Steve incanting "bastard! bastard!" at a soi-disant innocent Saniflo clutched between the weakening knees. (The difference being that the former needed celluloid to capture it, while the latter came from the sheer magnificence of Steve's prose. If the pictures are better on the radio than the box, then they're better yet in a text-only newsgroup ;-)
