The cost of a power stain is the same whether its run flat out, or one hour a day.

The only savings you make for one hour a day is a teeny bit of fuel, and you lose that in heating it all up again after its been shut down.

Which is why renewable energy produces no carbon savings whatsoever overall, and electricity is just getting more expensive.
