Power flush

Hi,

I need to drain the CH system at the weekend for an extra upstairs radiator addition. I only recently (12 months ago) drained it and fernoxed it etc following a full new rad swap out.

I have heard about power flushing CH systems that some plumbers recommend in which they flush the system out with water under pressure.

How does this work, can I do it myself and is it worth it as the only original part of the CH is the pipe work (all the old 1970's rads were skipped)?

BTW if a re-fernox the system can you add too much fernox (the ground floor probably wont drain the existing water)?

Thanks, Matthew

Put some de-sludger in the radiator circuit now.

Drain the water in a couple of weeks and fit new rad.

Add inhibitor and refill

Don't bother with powerflushing as it is *very* expensive and usually not needed (imho)

Google for severasl posts by Andy Hall on flushing radiators.

If it isn't in the FAQ it probably ought to be :-)
